Surfers point

As the name implies, this is one of the most popular surfing spots in Barbados. Located on the south-east coast, it is renowned for its perfect surfing conditions making it one of the best locations for beginners and people who are a little more advanced. However, it is not just surfing that is popular here, but is home to people looking to windsurf, kitesurf, boogie board and experience kayaking. If you’re looking for a place to meet likeminded surfers, this is the place to be!

Best time to surf: August to February

Freights Bay

Located on the South Coast, Freights Bay is the longest left in Barbados. As the wave is sheltered in a bay that creates off-shore winds, it is a great surfing destination for longboarders, intermediate surfers and beginners. The ocean shore is mostly sandy and reef making it a very safe place for all surfers.

Brandens

Located near Bridgetown, Branden’s has an amazing beach and is a must when visiting Barbados to surf.  This wave is the perfect height for all levels of surfers which makes it a popular destination for people looking to surf for the first time. You won’t just find surfers here – it’s also a notorious picnic spot for many of the locals wanting to relax on the beach.

Soup Bowl

This is one of the most legendary surfing spots and is regarded as one of the best waves in the world. Based in the town of Bathsheba – along the east coast of Barbados – the soup bowl is one of the best surf spots in Barbados. Due to its really good curve, the wave has been labelled as one of the top 3 waves in the world. Apart from its amazing surfing facilities, it is also a great place to relax away from busy city living. It’s a great place for lazy days on the beach, zip-lining and hiking.

Best time to surf: November to May

Batts Rock

Located on the west coast of Barbados, Batts Rock is the first place to check if you are looking for a wave on the west coast. Due to the inconsistency of the waves, the west coast is the least popular destination to surf. None the less, this is probably the safest place to surf on this side of Barbados which makes it a good place for people looking to surf for the first time, or those looking for somewhere less crowded.
